FAQs

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing that allows a full range of movement. Shoes that allow you to turn without gripping.

Can I try one class first?

Each 5 week block must be paid on enrolment, but refunds can be requested immediately after week 1.

Can I get a refund if the class isn’t what I expected?

If you contact us immediately after your first class, we will arrange a refund (less the cost of the class and a small processing fee).

What if I get to week 3 and can’t finish the term?

If you need to withdraw from week 2 onwards, let us know straight away and your fees can be transferred to class credit, to be used by the end of the year.

This is fully transferrable to friends or family.

Do I get a refund if I miss a class?

Fees are based on a 5 week commitment to ensure our teachers costs are covered. If you miss a class, you have the option of attending the same lesson at one of our other locations, or making it up in the next block of classes.

Do I need a dance partner?

No partners required.

We do our best to keep our Leads & Follower numbers as even as possible, so you don’t need to enrol with a partner.

If the numbers are uneven, that’s ok as we find students benefit from practicing the footwork solo whilst waiting to move around the circle. We rotate regularly so that all students get time with a partner and solo.

Do I have to dance with other people?

Our classes operate on the basis that everyone will change partners every few minutes.

This is to make sure students dance with a range of partners with slightly different skills, which helps when you hit the social dance floor. By dancing with different partners you truly learn the importance of dance connection in order to lead and follow effectively.

However, your comfort is vital. If you’re not comfortable with that approach, please talk to us about other options.

Do I have to stay dancing in the circle?

Students can opt out, and dance alongside the circle if they want to dance with their own partner or even just if they feel a little overwhelmed by the steps we’re learning.

They are then free to re-join the circle at any time.

Can I wear headphones?

We do our best to keep music at a comfortable level, but students are welcome to wear headphones.

I have an NDIS plan. How do I enrol?

Self Managed and Plan Managed NDIS Participants are encouraged to enrol. Follow the usual Registration process and select from the NDIS drop down box.

If you are Plan Managed, an invoice will be issued to the organisation that handles your plan.

Can my Support Worker join the class?

If you have an NDIS Plan, your support worker is welcome to join your class at no cost. Contact Georgia Thomas to arrange their registration.

Do I register as a Lead or a Follower?

Traditionally, males were Leads and females were the Followers, but we don’t make that distinction. Register for whichever role you are comfortable with. Our only requirement is that you remain in that role for the 5 week term.
